'It's Complicated' trailer

After seeing the wonderfully transformative Meryl Streep in her current film, Julie & Julia, I ran into a trailer for her next live-action film, set for release Christmas Day 2009, It’s Complicated.

This romantic comedy about the complications of love and divorce looks like another promising, witty film from Nancy Meyers, writer/director of Something’s Gotta Give and What Women Want. Meryl Streep plays Jane, a divorced mother of three who, after more than a decade, finally has an agreeable relationship with her ex-husband, Jake (Alec Baldwin) who has since married a younger woman. Yet, when Jane and Jake come together for their son’s college graduation, they discover a renewed sense of romance. If reconnecting with her ex-husband weren’t complicated enough, Jane soon discovers that her architect, Adam (Steve Martin) is falling for her as well. With the two men vying for her affection, Jane finds herself in the middle of an amusing love triangle.

With a solid supporting cast, It’s Complicated looks like an entertaining ensemble comedy perfect for the holiday season.

[EDIT] It looks like YouTube has removed the HD trailer for It's Complicated. Nonetheless, the trailer is now in theaters and will no doubt be on TV soon as well. Still a good, light-hearted film to look out for.

  1. Oh goody! A movie to see at Christmastime! Thanks! I have to confess that Steve Martin isn't my favorite, but Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin are enough to make me want to see the movie.

  2. Hopefully you'll have a plethora of good films to see before Christmastime! We're coming upon my favorite time of year....as fall arrives, a lot of "Oscar bait" starts hitting the theaters. Maybe I'll do a post soon on some upcoming films to see for the remainder of '09. In the meantime, if you haven't already seen it, Julie & Julie is a delightful movie...one you might especially like, scb, since you're in the midst of your Culinary Therapy project!

  3. I was telling someone about Culinary Therapy today, and she immediately said "Have you seen 'Julie and Julia'?" With two recommendations in the space of just a couple of hours, I'm going to have to go and see it. It's soooooo long since I've actually gone to a movie in the theater...
