Welcome to The Reel World

Welcome to The Reel World’s inaugural post. My purpose in starting this blog is to create an open log on the subject of my greatest fascination – film! My taste in film, as you will come to see, runs the gamut from classic to modern; film noir to musicals and foreign films. I admit I am no expert on the subject, merely a devoted cinephile.

I’ve come to regard film as the greatest and most influential form of art for many reasons which I hope to convey through my ongoing musings. The magic of the movies allow us to imagine our greatest fantasies, visualize past and future events and bring our dreams to life.

Movies are, first and foremost, a vehicle for storytelling, and I have always gravitated towards those stories that show me something I can't glimpse through my lived experience. To be transported into an unknown and fascinating world through these cinematic windows – to cross the threshold into The Reel World (if you’ll excuse the cheesy pun) — that’s what makes me love the movies!

I hope you’ll follow me in this journey through the vast and mesmerizing world of film!

I agree with you about the influence that movies can have on many things. I may have to 'counter-blog' some things back and forth with you. Looking forward to it chicky!!

  2. Thanks for the warm welcome, Prenses! I wholly believe in the subjective nature of film and understand and embrace the idea that everyone takes aways something different and unique from various films he/she may view.

  3. I agree. Films make different impressions on individuals and each individual walks away with their own interpretation of that film. Even based on a true story, films are subjective in that the director leaves a bit of them in the piece; their perception or interpretation of the truth. So, this is definitely a good opening subject matter. This is going to be fun!
